Imaging and radiotherapy phantoms are essential for training, QA, and treatment planning validation — helping teams verify accuracy while protecting patients.
Solutions
- Kyoto Kagaku Radiology phantoms for CT/radiotherapy planning — CT imaging plays a key role in correcting for tissue inhomogeneities in radiation treatment planning; Kyoto offers solutions supporting CT-to-density correlation workflows.
- Kyoto Kagaku Anthropomorphic phantoms — a lineup designed to meet varying requirements (including newborn options).
- Kyoto Kagaku Radiology phantom portfolio — sectional/transparent/opaque phantoms designed for realistic imaging and positioning understanding (portfolio-dependent).
Benefits
- Supports accuracy management and verification for imaging and radiotherapy workflows.
- Enables realistic training and evaluation with anatomy-representative phantoms.
- Improves standardization of QA and training across sites and teams.
MORE ABOUT THE SOLUTIONS
CT Whole Body Phantom with Pathologies
CT Whole Body Phantom’s applications:
- CT
- Plain X-ray
- Basic patient positioning
- Radiographic interpretation
Shoulders: rotate through a full 360 degrees in the sagittal plane, approx. 180 degrees to side-ways.
Hip joints: rotate forward up to approx. 90 degrees, then abduct up to 45 degrees each.
Elbows and Knees: bend up to approx. 90 degrees.
The phantom can be held in the supine frog leg position. Radiology absorption and HU number approximate to human body. Main joints have close-to human articulation, allowing various positioning for training. Phantom can be disassembled into 10 individual parts.
Pathologies:
- brain tumor(130)subarachnoid hemorrhage(90)pulmonary tumor(inside:30 / outside:130)hepatic tumor(10)pancreatitis(30)gall stone(170)kidney stone(170)appendicitis(inside:30 / outside:40)spondylolisthesis(-)
Head:
- synthetic skull / spine / brain_cerebrum(40) / mesencephalon(40) / cerebellum(40) / cerebral ventricles(10) / eye balls(20) / arteries with contrast medium(left half only)(250)
Trunk:

Kyoto Kagaku Anthropomorphic phantoms
PBU phantoms provide life like images and attenuation, ideal for educational training applications.
PBU phantoms can also help determine and evaluate optimal scanning parameters.

What is difference between phantoms for plane X-ray and CT? They may look quite alike or even identical, still:
- for CT has full internal organs
- radiology absorption and Hounsfield number approximate to human body
- materials are the same as one for X-ray
- also can be used by plane X-ray

Toward A More Reliable Gauge of Radiation Therapy
A new brand created for professionals in radiation therapy. Combining Kyoto Kagaku’s expertise in medical education with innovation,
we deliver next-generation radiation therapy phantoms.
A new phantom material for dose measurement, designed with relative electron density, effective atomic number, and stopping-power ratio more closely matched to water.
Radiotherapy / Water-Equivalent Slab Phantom
- For greater ease of use, two sizes are available: 200 x 200 mm and 300 x 300 mm.
- Hole machining for dosimeters is available – please inquire for details.

Smooth creation of CT-value conversion tables from imaging to treatment
Radiotherapy / Water-Equivalent Slab Phantom / Computer Tomography
- CT imaging plays a key role in correcting for tissue inhomogeneities in radiation treatment planning.
- Various tissue-equivalent rods can be positioned freely in the head and torso base modules, enabling CT-to-electron density correlation measurements.
Dynamic Phantom Platform The Key Dynamic
Movable platform capable of reproducing arbitrary respiratory motion
Radiotherapy / Respiratory Gating / Quality Assurance
- This system enables accurate evaluation of respiratory tracking and synchronization by accommodating not only dose measurement phantoms but also CT, nuclear medicine, and anthropomorphic phantoms.
- This phantom simulating abdominal surface movement during breathing is installed. Respiratory gating sensors can also be attached.
WHAT FOR
This phantom is specifically engineered to replicate human motion, offering a reliable solution for a wide range of applications in radiotherapy and medical imaging (including evaluation of the accuracy of respiratory tracking and gating). It was designed to accommodate various types of phantoms, such as dosimetry phantoms, CT phantoms, nuclear medicine phantoms, and anthropomorphic phantoms.
It is equipped with a surrogate simulated abdomen that reproduces body surface motion during respiration. A respiratory gating sensor can also be attached.
